The cusp of magic ..... our past and our future...............

Our stairs............... a place in between........... a place to sit and to think.
The past year with its pages full and brimming a book well read...  the unknown's pages new, unmarked, unfolded..........
This very eve we dance with both, we toast a future with hope, and salute the past with respect.......
Now let your dreams and wishes unfold...............................................
With Love and Bright Blessings

Kissing under the Mistletoe............

Early this morning

Do you think it's a good hint......................

Just some last minute finishes........ and I thought you might like to see my cosy cushion that I printed onto fur...I have never done this before and it worked! hurray........ no stopping me now ha ha...
Most of all I wanted to say a big thank you to you all  so very much for being so supportive this year. With your kind , and lovely thoughts, with your fabulous and funny messages and most of all for letting me share a little in your worlds, and your lives be they near or far across rivers or Continents, it has been a real privilege for me to see into your homes and ideas, and I feel truly blessed thank you. Happy Wedding Anniversary................

Like most couples we had no money, no furniture, but oh what a day........................and we celebrated Yule that night as we will tomorrow and pray that the Blessings of the Goddess are with all of us this Yultide and remember our lovely friend Sandy xxx.
A few words for yule...............

This is the season of the White Goddess,
And the time of the Divine Child.
It is a time for entering the wilderness,
And seeking the calmness of solitary locales.
This is a time to know the endurance of the hills,
For standing alone and godlike,
And seeing all things clearly.
So let us call forth the Old Ones,
And celebrate with joy the return of the Light!

At this time do we know the dark of the year.
The season of life is past, and all is cold.
Emptiness and blackness are all about.
Let us now give honour to the Goddess,
That the wheel of the year may turn on
Through the birth of the Divine Child,
The Golden Newborn Solstice Sun.
Bright Blessings my beloved

Squeaking Mice......................

                                                                              Make your own Sugar Mice
450 Gram Granulated Sugar
225 ml water
2 tbsp of golden syrup
ribbon for tails
icing for eyes
Marble slap or very smooth surface

Put the sugar and water into a strong saucepan over a very gentle heat until ALL the sugar has melted, it will look cloudy white, only then bring it quickly to the boil and it will go clear, don't stir it and as soon as the temperature reaches 240 remove from the heat, if you let it go too much over you will get toffee brittle instead!!
Allow to cool in pan occasionally and  very gently stirring as it cools, as it gets stiff tip out onto slab and with a palette knife move the outside cool sugar into the center eventually you can handle it like pastry.
Then either press into moulds( Lakeland sell mice moulds ) or you can model by hand. This recipe makes 8-12 squeaky mice for about 60 pence.......Don't forget to add the tails and keep an eye on the sugar I left my first lot for2 minutes to long and ended up with hard toffee! ha ha

We are having Mr Sea-Angels mom for Christmas FIRST time ever! so I  have just started to get her room ready I want it to be a special magical Christmas (don't we all) and I liked the stillness and peace in there and the way the light is reflected from the snow outside, so I shall try to preserve that little peaceful place for her and not clutter it up toooo much ha ha...
Lots of hugs

Playing with snow..................

Yesterday I put our Yule Wreath on the front door..I'm getting kind of worn out but in a pleasant
amiable sort of way know what I mean..present wrapping's and glitter everywhere, unfinished projects begging to have a final button stitched on....and food ingredients accumulating in groaning cupboards...with icing sugar adding a touch of silent stickiness to everything..........I just want to finish work and throw myself into those final mad days before I finally pass out with a glass of bubbly...
Oh but I do love it sooo much
Hugs Lynn xxxx
PS look up Snow effect on this link it gives you quite a nice speckly look like my top picture

To my beloved friend.........

Let our dear one's that have gone before us.
Return this night and make merry with us
And when our time comes as it must,
Oh thou the Comforter the Consoler'
The Giver of peace and rest.
We will enter thy realms gladly and unafraid
For we know that ,
When rested and refreshed amongst our dear ones
We will be reborn again, by thy grace,
And the grace of the Great Mother.
Let it be in the same place, and at the same time'
As our beloved ones.
And may we meet, and know, and remember, and love them again.
May we all be blessed with happy memories on this eve
With much love for all those we have lost and still have in our hearts

Christmas Embroiderys

Thank you, so much for all of your comments last week, you really cheered me up with your kind words of support xxx
I was so lost without the computer....and jam supplies were being threatened! fortunately wonderful husband Adrian came to the rescue and has patched me together xxxx for the moment ..
However gifted with lots of free evenings I have managed to have fun sewing, the above pictures are small snippets of what I have been up to...Top Shop have a fashion theme going called the Ice Princess.. I loved the sound of it so I am using fur and sequins and faded old silk glittery net and images from what I would imagine an Ice Princess would have lying around her cold and beautiful palace, I shall show you some more glistening, twinkly  bits later in the week.
I have booked for the Christmas Country Living Fair in Glasgow next month I thought it would make a lovely change from London, hope I bump into some of you there.  There are bound to be lots of wonderful Christmas ideas to share let me know if you are going xxxxx

My day off................

Me and Myvanwy

A  growing obsession

Darning an Edwardian underskirt

Practise makes perfect

Lavender Hearts for my Christmas Tree

Lovely Car Boot Finds

I ride a bike...not a lovely Pashley or  Smart Town  wheels with a basket,  but a very old ordinary second hand bike called Myvanwy (after the Betjeman poem)...I can't drive I'm totally useless... but me and Myvanwy we  can do anything, she is a  magic carpet, sweeping me wherever I wish to go..she can carry cupboards! strapped to my and me and we go faster than the wind blows....only on the country tracks though ha I set out on my bike today... really to stop myself making anymore jams and pickles.....(.though I will be making mincemeat the sweet vegetarian kind, it needs two months to I just have enough time)... and set off for the car boot.
Well as you can see I am also busy  embroidering and making for Christmas and buying far too many things,  lovely things from the car boot just lately...... anyway back to work tommorow..the students came back Monday and we have the First Years for their first Embroidery Lesson.. I leave the rest to your imagination...
Lots of laughter, lots of love....... this is the poem I so like.........

Kind o’er the kinderbank leans my Myfanwy,
White o’er the playpen the sheen of her dress,
Fresh from the bathroom and soft in the nursery
Soap scented fingers I long to caress.

Were you a prefect and head of your dormit'ry?
Were you a hockey girl, tennis or gym?
Who was your favourite? Who had a crush on you?
Which were the baths where they taught you to swim?

Smooth down the Avenue glitters the bicycle,
Black-stockinged legs under navy blue serge,
Home and Colonial, Star, International,
Balancing bicycle leant on the verge.

Trace me your wheel-tracks, you fortunate bicycle,
Out of the shopping and into the dark,
Back down the avenue, back to the pottingshed,
Back to the house on the fringe of the park.

Golden the light on the locks of Myfanwy,
Golden the light on the book on her knee,
Finger marked pages of Rackham's Hans Anderson,
Time for the children to come down to tea.

Oh! Fullers angel-cake, Robertson’s marmalade,
Liberty lampshade, come shine on us all,
My! what a spread for the friends of Myfanwy,
Some in the alcove and some in the hall.

Then what sardines in half-lighted passages!
Locking of fingers in long hide-and-seek.
You will protect me, my silken Myfanwy,
Ring leader, tom-boy, and chum to the weak.

thinking ahead.......................

Starting to prepare for Yule

I bought these lovely letters from  French Larkspur, with the intention of using them for backgrounds for my Christmas drawings and prints....but when I opened them up and started to read the contents written from one sister to another in the 20's/30's the joy... the heartache...the children..I could not bare to use them, well not just yet, they have been such a pleasure and joy to read and such an unexpected treat we never really know what is round the corner do we?
Back to my Christmas pudding drawings.......with love to you xxxxx
