A little lemon water............

Laundry Room............. from Cath Kidston

I like to face the New Year with a fresh start.... I love to launder all my Christmas table linens...bringing them in today from the washing line, stiff like boards, and smelling of luke warm sunlight and that sharp, frosty, smoky, winter smell. I like to iron them and see the sharp creases all neat and smell the clean lavender steam rise in the warmth of the kitchen. It makes me sad that I can't live like this most of the year..that I don't have to time to do these lovely domestic things, we normally use paper towels , no washing I savour these small simple delights. If you have time to stop just for a few minutes can you share your thoughts with me.

Queen of the Moon, Queen of the Sun,
Queen of the heavens, Queen of the Stars,
Queen of the Waters, Queen of the Earth,
Bring to us the child of promise.
It is the Great Mother who gives birth to Him
It is the Lord of Life who is born again.

Welcome to my back door.........

Pop your coat on the chair....

Stay for a while........

Smell the roses

Have I forgotten anything........

My Beloved Husband Adrian

Our wedding ten years ago...................the only thing working was the Aga...we chose it instead of a car,!! can you believe ha ha. You can see the house was a building site, no carpets, or curtains, nothing....but we had family, friends, laughter, joy, the magic of the Solstice, the smell of flowers and pine branches...
Today we still have these things, I would not swop them for all the brightest jewels in the world, and would wish you same.
Happy Christmas, God Jul, Joyeux Noel.
With Love

The Solstice draws near.....

I went out on my bike Saturday to a local farmers market, I wanted to escape the shops, the noise and the lights. I made a lovely thick vegetable stew with lentils and pearl barley for us all....Later as the evening drew in I brought in a tree from the garden bought a few weeks ago, it was damp and heavy with the sharp tang of pinewood and I dressed it with glass droplets and prayer cards from my friend Lisa...I have carols playing and the house smells of Frankinsence and winter spices. There is a big fat Thrush on the Rowan outside just sitting like me, silently watching the day...................
Such a simple pleasure, I wish I could do it more often.
I hope you find a quiet space for your thoughts sometime this week, we all need a space....
Love and hugs

Second Advent..the coming of the dawn...

Had I the heavens embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and half light
I would spread the cloths under your feet

I wanted to light my second candle under the fading stars of night, I wanted it touched by the rising sun, to sparkle like two brilliant jewels amongst the glory of the frosty land that I love so very much.
Have a peaceful and joyous week

A magical day, of old values, warmth, and hands of friendship.....

Nicky makes the most gorgeous soft toys, they are very polite, but they really like cake!!!

Carol had the most beautifully made hearts, and such pretty Gingham Heart cards, lots of lovely hand made pretties

Frances had the most wonderful vintage look, with such pretty vintage Dolly's......
What a wonderful day, (please click on the link 'Vintage Fair' to see all the amazing bloggers that were selling at the fayre). I have just shown a tiny peek of my neighbours beautiful tables, not really doing them justice!! There were so many more stunning tables!!
I must thank Frances for her large (so very useful, saved the day) brown bags...and the fact that she has as many crazy ideas as me!!! and a lovely daughter in law......
and also Carol for being one of the nicest stylish friendliest ladies I could ever wish to meet, plus her lovely family.
In all honesty every person there had a table full of the most wonderful finds, exciting new ideas, different gorgeous items...... you could never, never reproduce the atmosphere, friendship and excitement in the photographs that existed in the hall yesterday.
I want to say a thankyou a BIG thankyou to the wonderful people I met, the customers who said such nice things it made me teary, and so yet so happy. It was a day full of real values, real talent, and real friendship. A day that would never of happened for me without the support of my whole family, and my beloved daughter and wonderful husband.
May we all be blessed with a peaceful and restful week.
Love Lynn xxxxx

I want to start getting ready for Yule..........

Yes, I am still sewing.........our lovely house is a terrible mess; I know I have a husband and daughter but I have lost them under piles of fabric, along with half of the house. I am so glad to go to work even and leave all the mess behind, and I have never said that before (big smile). I want to thank everyone for their 'can't resists' they were fabulous and got me through a difficult week, thankyou. After the Fayre I want to do a 'Give Away' to say thankyou, to everyone, but I don't know what to make!!!
So if you have time, tell me what you might like and then I will look at all the answers and put a few of them in my give away. I can't think of any better way of starting my count down to Yule than making a few nice things for some lovely friends.
Buy a friend a cake and a cup of tea.... give her a hug make her happy!!!!
Lots of hugs

I just could not resist........

I could not resist sitting on top of these crispy autumn leaves.......

I could not resist making these vintage encrusted lovelies.......

I cannot resist making anything with birds on.......

I cannot resist the making of Advent decorations........

I cannot resist being in the park at any time

As you can see, all my inspirations come from all of you, my blog friends, and the gorgeous and beautiful things that you make. You are my encouragement.....and I thank you all from my heart for your inspiration.
If you have time I would love to know what you cannot resist doing!! Dare you divulge your secrets............
Have a fun and lovely week, dance in the leaves, collect jewelled cobwebs on forked branches, but don't listen to the squirrels, they tell terrible tales.............
Love and hugs Lynn xx

Samhain is a special time for me, a time put aside from my everyday living, a time to reach out to the people beloved to me, and for me to send my love to them across the mists of mystery, to speak and say, that they are remembered forever in my heart and will be part of me until we can be together again and rejoice. This week I lost a most beloved friend...enough said.
Make merry , love and be loved,
Tears, hugs and kisses

Who has the answers??

Snippets from home

I seem to be sewing all of the time

Reflecting on who I am

I have a book it is like a bible to me......'Simple Abundance' by Sarah Ban Breathnach, 13 years ago it made me think about what I really wanted from my life, I am still struggling with this question, it is still a terrible battle.

How do I live a life without material desire, I covert so many things. I desire so much, I have a passion for loveliness, both in creative form and spirituality, fortunately nature provides most of what I desire, but there are other things, that have to be bought, and paid for!! I have over the years succeeded in cutting myself off from some of the temptations of material desires, and from the people that peddle them, yet I still find myself unable to ditch the computer, the car, the radio. I have to work to pay the bills, where do we find the balance, how do we make our lives authentic? How do we care for our soul.

Be Blessed with a loving week

We are no more or less than the stars............

Leaving my work, I run out into the late afternoon sun, the shadows grow long and cold fingers of late shadows begin to creep on the edge of the soft sun. I know we are encroaching into the dark, the damp scent of decay is present and I feel the land is slowing down. I adore this time of the year, there is a gentle magic and an introverted sigh as we let go of the summer and it's riches. All is falling to rest, all is beginning it's simple long silent wait until Yule.

I am the waning moon,

The Goddess who is fading from the land,

When you see my power fade

And the leaves fall from the trees;

When snow obliterates like death,

All trace of me upon the earth.

Then look for me in the Moon,

And there in the heavens you will see the soul of me

Soaring still amongst the stars.

When I am hidden, I am renewing

When I am waning I am making ready for my return

Remember my promise and look within you,

And there you will always find the spirit of me.

May we all be blessed with a loving and peaceful week.

Stop the clocks.....

I love these textures

More sewing for the fayre

Yet more sewing for the fayre

Chocolate mousse for tea I think......

Lovely old brioche tins

My beautiful gift from Lisa

I just adored the wrapping

Where does the weekend go???

I am busy sewing all the time now, for the fayre, it's good fun , house is a tip..and I am wearing the most odd clothing's whatever comes out of the wardrobe first, Hubie is doing his best to ignore the pins in his heels, ( I must be more careful) and there are cotton trails all over the carpets, then there are the rather strange cobbled together meals we have taken to eating. Does anyone else have these problems!!! Any advice that you can give will be gratefully accepted.....

I am so thrilled with my beautiful gift from Lisa Hannah Moth to Flame Studio the Maddona cards are so gorgeous, just my thing, thankyou so much Lisa and I just adored the way they were wrapped, have a look at Laura's Etsy pages they are really pretty.

I hope you all have the most peaceful and magical week..... Me too in my dreams........ Love and Hugs Lynn xxx
